Discover the healing plants of autumn

Join experienced forager and herbalist Hayley for a fascinating afternoon exploring the medicinal plants, trees and fungi of the beautiful Swaledale landscape.

As the seasons begin to turn, the countryside offers a remarkable pharmacy of roots, berries, seeds, mushrooms and late-season herbs. Together we’ll wander through woodland, hedgerows and meadows, learning how our ancestors worked with these plants to support health and wellbeing long before modern medicine.

This is a gentle, informative walk designed to help you see the landscape differently. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of the plants growing around you, the confidence to identify them safely, and a renewed connection to the natural world.

Whether you’re completely new to herbal medicine or looking to deepen your knowledge, this walk will inspire you to build a closer relationship with the healing plants on your doorstep.

What you’ll discover

Every walk is unique as we follow the seasons, but you can expect to learn about:

  • Medicinal trees and their traditional uses
  • Autumn berries, seeds and roots
  • Wild mushrooms with medicinal value
  • Hedgerow remedies and seasonal tonics
  • Safe plant identification and ethical harvesting
  • Traditional folklore surrounding medicinal plants
  • How to begin building your own home herbal apothecary
  • The health benefits of many common “weeds” growing all around us

Along the way we’ll also discuss responsible foraging, sustainability, habitat conservation and how to harvest with respect for both wildlife and future generations.

On top of this, all attendees will receive a FREE copy of the ‘Wild Roots’ Good Guide to Foraging’ ebook.

Children under 14 go FREE!

Come and rediscover nature’s medicine cabinet

For thousands of years, people looked to the hedgerows, woodlands and meadows for food, healing and everyday wellbeing. Much of this knowledge has been forgotten but the plants are still here, quietly waiting to be rediscovered.

Join us for an inspiring afternoon in the Yorkshire Dales and begin seeing the landscape through entirely new eyes.
