Step into the woods at the height of mushroom season for a wonderfully immersive autumn experience with experienced forager Bex Northman.
This is much more than a simple mushroom walk. During the experience, Bex will guide you through the fascinating world of wild fungi, helping you begin to understand the features, habitats and clues that make mushroom identification feel far less daunting.
You’ll explore the woodland in search of the fungi fruiting at the time, learning about edible and medicinal species, important poisonous lookalikes, mushroom ecology and sustainable harvesting along the way.
And after a morning spent immersed in the woods, we’ll finish with one of the best parts of the experience – sitting down together to enjoy a warming homemade wild mushroom risotto, prepared by Bex.

🍄 What You’ll Discover
Mushrooms can feel like one of the most intimidating areas of foraging, but learning out in the field with an experienced forager makes an enormous difference.
Bex will introduce you to the key characteristics used to identify mushrooms safely and confidently, including:
- How to begin identifying wild mushrooms
- The features to look for on caps, stems, gills and pores
- How habitat, trees and growing conditions can help with identification
- Edible species and how they can be used
- Medicinal fungi and their traditional uses
- Poisonous mushrooms and potentially dangerous lookalikes
- The important ecological role fungi play within our woodlands
- How to harvest mushrooms responsibly and sustainably
Depending on what the season brings us, you may also encounter other edible and medicinal wild plants along the way.
Every walk is shaped by what nature provides, so no two experiences are ever quite the same.
On top of this, all attendees will receive a FREE copy of the ‘Wild Roots’ Good Guide to Foraging’ ebook.
Children under 14 go FREE!
