Somewhere along the way, many of us forgot we belonged to the earth.

We move too fast. We spend more time looking at screens than skies.

And even when our bodies are asking us to slow down, the demands of everyday life rarely seem to stop.

But autumn reminds us that we were never meant to live at the same pace all year round.

As the trees let go and the natural world begins to turn inward, Autumn Day Retreat for Wild Women is an invitation to do the same.

To step away from the noise for a day. To walk amongst the trees. To work with your hands. To eat, drink, rest, listen and reconnect with the rhythms of the season – alongside a small community of women doing the same.

Why Autumn?

Autumn has always been a season of transition.

The abundance of summer gives way to falling leaves, ripening berries, seeds and roots. Energy begins to move downwards and inwards as the natural world prepares for winter.

For our ancestors, this changing season brought gathering, preserving, preparing and coming together in community.

And perhaps there is something in that rhythm that many of us still need.

This retreat is an opportunity to honour the season rather than rush through it – gathering what autumn still has to offer, creating something with our hands, sharing nourishing food and allowing ourselves the rare luxury of simply slowing down.

This day is for you if…

You feel overwhelmed, burnt out or constantly “on the go”

You crave deeper connection with nature and the seasons

You want time away from your usual responsibilities

You love foraging, folklore, plants and ancestral traditions

You miss meaningful connection and community with other women

You want to make something beautiful and meaningful with your hands

You need space to breathe, rest and simply be

So much more than just foraging…

Throughout the day, Ruby will gently guide you through a series of seasonal experiences designed to help you slow down, awaken your senses and reconnect with both yourself and the natural world.

Together we’ll explore:

Autumn foraging and hedgerow connection
Trees, folklore and an introduction to tree spirits
Gathering natural materials from the landscape
Broomstick making or a rowan berry protection charm workshop
Forest bathing and mindful nature connection
A nourishing seasonal lunch
Making your own seasonal syrup to take home
Herbal teas throughout the day
A deeply relaxing sound bath
An oracle card pull
A closing women’s circle

This is a whole day to step out of ordinary life and into something slower, wilder and more intentional.

Autumn Foraging & Wild Plant Connection

We’ll head out together for a gentle autumn foraging walk, exploring the wild plants, trees and seasonal treasures growing around us. Ruby will share identification tips, traditional uses and folklore, helping you deepen your connection with the landscape and see the abundance that can still be found at this time of year.

This isn’t about rushing to collect as much as possible. It’s about slowing down, noticing what’s around us and learning to recognise the plants and trees we share the landscape with – reconnecting with nature as the season begins to turn inward.

Forest bathing

Ruby will guide you through a gentle forest bathing experience, inviting you to slow down, quieten the mind and experience the natural world through your senses.

Among the trees, there’ll be time to breathe, notice, listen and simply be – allowing the nervous system to settle and creating space to reconnect with yourself as well as the landscape around you.

Seasonal Wild Drinks

Throughout the day, you’ll be offered warming seasonal herbal teas and wild drinks made with carefully chosen plants and medicinal ingredients.

These small moments of warmth, nourishment and shared conversation will be woven throughout the day – a chance to pause, warm up and enjoy something made from the season.

Seasonal Wild Food Lunch

We’ll gather together for a nourishing seasonal lunch, giving us time to warm up, rest and share food and conversation before the afternoon continues.

Expect a beautiful spread inspired by the season, with wild ingredients woven into the food wherever possible – celebrating autumn abundance and the simple pleasure of eating together.

Make your own seasonal herbal syrup

We’ll move into the kitchen to explore another way of working with the plants around us, as Ruby guides you through making a seasonal herbal syrup.

You’ll learn how traditional preparations like syrups can be used to preserve seasonal plants and create something useful for the colder months, with plenty of practical knowledge to inspire you to continue making your own remedies at home.

Tree Folklore & Oral Traditions

As we explore, Ruby will share some of the folklore, symbolism and traditional beliefs surrounding our native trees, looking at the ways our ancestors understood and connected with the natural world around them.

Autumn is a particularly powerful time to explore these old traditions – a season of gathering, letting go and turning inward as the landscape prepares for winter.

Create your Own Rowan Charm

Using natural materials, you’ll create your own rowan charm to take home with you, while exploring some of the ancient folklore and protective traditions surrounding this much-loved tree.

It’s a simple, mindful activity that connects us with the old ways our ancestors worked with the plants and trees around them, and leaves you with something meaningful to remember the day by.

Broomstick Making

Drawing on old seasonal traditions, you’ll make your own rustic broomstick using natural materials – learning about the folklore and symbolism that has surrounded the humble broom for generations.

This is a chance to slow down and make something with your hands, reconnecting with traditional skills and creating something completely unique to take home from the day.

Sound Bath & Deep Rest

After a day of exploring, learning and making, there’ll be time to slow right down and simply rest.

Ruby will guide you into a deeply relaxing sound bath, where you can get comfortable, close your eyes and allow the sounds and vibrations to wash over you.

No experience is needed – just an opportunity to become still, switch off from the outside world and enjoy a moment of deep rest before the day begins to draw to a close.

Oracle Cards & Closing Circle

As our day together draws to a close, we’ll gather once more for a gentle closing circle.

There’ll be an opportunity to choose an oracle card, reflect on the day and share anything you’d like to bring to the circle – although there is never any pressure to speak.

A quiet, meaningful way to close our time together before heading home.

A Day to Remember Your Place in the Wild

This gathering is an invitation to step away from the busyness of everyday life and spend a whole day reconnecting – with nature, with the season, with other women and with yourself.

A day of autumn wandering, wild plants, old folklore, making, seasonal food, sound, rest and meaningful connection.

Come alone or with a friend. You’ll be warmly welcomed into a small, supportive gathering where there’s no pressure to be anything other than yourself.

Leave feeling a little slower, a little lighter and more connected to the wild world around you.

Seasonal Wild Food & Drinks

Food is part of the experience too. During the day we’ll gather around the table for a nourishing seasonal lunch, with wild ingredients woven through the menu wherever possible.

Warming herbal teas and seasonal wild drinks will also be available throughout the retreat, giving us plenty of opportunities to pause, warm up and share food and conversation together.
