Rediscover the healing plants growing on your doorstep

For thousands of years, our hedgerows were our pharmacies.

Long before supermarkets and modern medicine, people turned to the plants growing around them for remedies to support wellbeing, soothe everyday ailments and care for themselves through the changing seasons.

Today, much of that knowledge has been forgotten.

Join Hayley Birks for an inspiring afternoon exploring the medicinal plants of our native hedgerows. Together we’ll slow down, reconnect with the landscape, and rediscover the remarkable healing properties of the wild plants growing all around us.

As we wander through the countryside, Hayley will introduce you to a wide variety of seasonal medicinal plants, sharing their traditional uses, fascinating folklore and practical ways they have been used throughout history. You’ll also learn how to identify these plants safely and harvest them responsibly, helping you build the confidence to begin working with wild medicine at home.

During the workshop you’ll learn:

  • How to identify a range of medicinal hedgerow plants.
  • Traditional herbal uses and folklore.
  • Which parts of each plant can be harvested and when.
  • Safe, sustainable and ethical foraging practices.
  • Simple ways to prepare herbs for home use, such as teas, syrups, infused oils and tinctures.
  • Make a medicinal syrup to take home.
  • Sample some wild infused food and wild herbal teas.
  • How to build your own connection with the healing plants growing around you.

Whether you’re completely new to wild herbal medicine or already have some experience, this workshop will leave you feeling inspired and empowered to see your local hedgerows in a whole new way.
