It’s time to go within & grow your roots…

Baby Moon, Dunsdale

Saturday 21st December 2024

9am-6pm

It’s here again!

Another year has passed us by and here we are, again, about to head into deep midwinter. Into the darkness, the cold, and the unknown.

And as it falls upon us, the shortest day and the longest night, just like all of nature, we are given this beautiful opportunity to sit in the darkness and take our rest.

Valuable time needed by us all, to restore the energy we have used throughout the busy year, so we can come back in spring, ever stronger.

But how many of us, today really take the rest we need and deserve?

The rest, the love, and the care that we are supposed to allow for ourselves at this time?

What happens to most of us, instead, is that we end up busier than ever, preparing for the festive season, more stressed than ever before and wearing ourselves into the ground.

So, instead of bringing a relaxed, calm, and present energy to ourselves, our families and the celebrations, we can bring the opposite.

When we move with the rhythm of life, so cyclically and in tune with nature, we become more in tune with ourselves, more in tune with our needs. And we begin learning how to meet them, whilst we also discover our own inner truth and wisdom.

The Festival of Rebirth is about celebrating the darkness, not fighting it.

It’s embracing our place in the cycles of life. Learning to find depth, shelter, warmth, a cosy Solstice fire, connected to our community by our roots, while sharing our stories, each one so full of wisdom.

Until we eventually rise, again, when we are ready. Like a seedling pushing gently but with force, out into the light.

Full of new strength and transformation.

Deepen your connection in the forest spa…

It’s the perfect season to begin deepening your connection to the earth.

Just like the roots of the trees and all the plants and mycelial networks below ground.

And what better way to do this than by spending intentional time connecting with the elements.

The earth beneath your feet. The wind tending to the tassels of your hair, and the crackling fire, nearby, as you plunge yourself into a cleansing aromatherapy-salted, wood-fired hot tub – with a gentle sound bath to settle you in.

Saying that, we know that this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea!

So, we have made it so that this is not a requirement of the day but rather an option.

We will make sure to carve out some time for each of you to be a guest, either of the forest spa, or simply of the forest.

You may choose to wander, instead.

Simply bathing in the sounds and sensations of the forest environment. Walking through the woodland, visiting the stream, laying your body on the ground and connecting in with Mother Nature, this way, instead.

The choice is yours!

Either way, expect to be deeply held by both your community and the earth, for one whole day.

Wild Wreath Workshop

Each year, around Winter Solstice, our ancient ancestors would collect seasonal treasures from out in nature, so that they could create a wreath to honour and celebrate the dark season.

Wreath making, so far, has been dated as far back as the 7th century BC but probably goes much further back than we have evidence to show for it.

In Celtic pagan tradition, a wreath was a way of honouring the sun. A reminder that the light will always return. And candles were lit to represent this light, too.

And the use of evergreens in our wreaths, was a reminder that although Mother Nature sleeps, life still continues. Symbolic of the deaths and darker days in our own lives.

Today, wreath making has been turned into a capitalist’s dream!

More about making money by selling cheap items made of plastic, to get an increase on profit margins. A far cry away from the original idea of the wreath.

This year, I invite you to explore wreath making without any plastic or imported goods but using what is found all around us. And allow you to see how much more naturally beautiful a wreath made in this way, is. Bringing us closer than ever to our roots and the roots of the wreath.

Yulogy Sound Healing Circle with

The Conscious Crone

During your day, you will be invited to take part in a Solstice Sound Healing Circle, with The Conscious Crone, who will be taking you on a journey back to connect with your ancestors and bring healing throughout your ancestral lineage.

Hot Herbal Winter Potions

Throughout the day, you will have full access to my Wild Winter Apothecary, where you can create your own healing potions. Feel free to ask me for any advice and information on how these wonderful allies can support us throughout the winter months.

I will also be conjuring up a cauldron of my hot winter cacao infused with native herbs and spices, to keep you warm. Served with a dollop of wild rose whipped cream, and naturally sweetened with a choice of raw honey, mugolio or birch syrup.

Winter Solstice Ceremony

Later in the day, we will gather in circle for our Winter Solstice ceremony, where you will be guided in a meditation taking you back through your year.

Within this circle, we build support and connection for one another. Holding space for anything that needs to be shared or expressed. Enabling you to walk away with the knowing that we are never really alone and that when we come together, we are stronger and can find our resilience through the storms to come.

It’s time to let go of that which no longer serves us and allow it to become rich, dark, fertile soil for our roots, and also for the community of people, who surround us. So that we may all thrive, together.

If the weather allows, we will sit around a crackling fire and throw into it what we choose to let go.

Forage

We have a lot to pack into this event, so while we may spend some time out in nature, we ask you to also pre-forage anything for our circle and anything personal you might like to add into your wreath.

Dried mushrooms & berries, bones, feathers, apples and other fruits, nuts, and seeds of the season.

This practice helps us to truly step away from consumer culture and step back into a more connected way of living.

We will spend some time decorating our inner circle with the blessings of the earth, in symbolism of how important it is to decorate and nurture our own inner circle with nature’s gifts.

Gather

Gathering in circles is part of a powerful global movement to reclaim the ancient bonds of community that we’ve lost and heal ancestral wounds, together.

Our circles are truly empowering, nurturing, authentic spaces. A place free from judgement, advice giving or fixing. A place to simply be your true and wild self.

For our circle, we also invite you to bring something to share. Either a gift for the hearth and earth, a gift for your sisters, or a gift for the gods!

Whatever you like!

Feel free to make this space your own and celebrate however is right for you. Gifts can be physical, symbolic, or may take the form of words, poetry, or performance.

There are no rules or limitations.

No right or wrong.

We only ask that anything natural is organic, so we don’t return toxicity to the earth.

Wild Food & Drinks

As usual, Lucy will be providing a few wild food treats to try but please bring along your own food/snacks, too, to keep yourself sustained throughout the day.

Also, please feel free to bring food to share, as is tradition at the solstice table.

If you would like to try some of the food provided please let us know, in good time, before the event.

We are unable to cater for dietary needs without plenty of notice, as the dishes are planned and food sourced well in advance.
