Join us for a magical summer evening in the hills above Great Ayton as we explore a landscape rich in wild food, folklore and seasonal abundance.

Our journey will take us through a beautiful mix of hedgerows, conifer woodland and open heathland, each habitat offering its own unique plants, trees and wild edibles. Along the way, you’ll learn how to identify edible and medicinal species safely, discover the traditional uses of the plants we find, and gain the confidence to begin incorporating wild foods into your everyday life.

What You’ll Discover

🌿 Edible and medicinal hedgerow plants

🫐 Wild bilberries hidden amongst the heathland

🌲 The uses of conifer trees, from food and medicine to traditional folklore

🍓 Seasonal hedgerow fruits and berries

🍄 Summer fungi and mushrooms (when conditions allow)

🌱 Foraging safety, sustainable harvesting and ethical wildcrafting

🥂 Wild food tasters and seasonal drinks around the fire

As the evening draws on, we’ll gather around the fire to share a selection of wild food tasters and seasonal drinks, taking time to relax, connect and enjoy the landscape as the sun begins to sink below the horizon. With sweeping views across the North Yorkshire countryside and the warmth of the fire beside us, it’s the perfect way to slow down, reconnect with nature and experience the magic of a summer evening outdoors.
