Step out onto the wild Durham coastline and discover just how abundant it really is.

This relaxed, immersive coastal foraging day in Seaham invites you to slow down breathe deeply, and reconnect with the land and sea beneath your feet. Guided by our wonderful forager Cheryl, you’ll learn to recognise, harvest and understand the edible and medicinal seaweeds, plants and shellfish growing along this rugged stretch of coast – many of which are hiding in plain sight.

Whether this is your very first foraging experience or you already have some knowledge, you’ll be met exactly where you are.

An array of tasty wild flavours

Traditional and modern uses for wild foods

How to forage with respect for nature and the seasons

Simple ways to cook and prepare with what you forage

Learn the folklore & history of the plants, seaweeds and mushrooms

Learn the health benefits and cautions

PLEASE NOTE

We do not cancel events for rain.
If rain is forecast, please come well prepared with the correct footwear (wellies/beach shoes) and waterproof clothing.
Please bring a pair of scissors and a basket if you have one!
There are toilets available nearby.
Well behaved dogs are welcome.

We strongly encourage car sharing/public transport/walking/cycling and to arrive early.

We will be providing a wild food lunch for you to sample the flavours of the coast and learn a variety of preparation methods.

Please do let us know well in advance of any allergies.

We are unable to cater for dietary needs without plenty of notice, as the dishes are planned and food sourced in ahead of the event.

Event will be around 6 hours long. The exact location will be emailed to you upon booking.

Please remember to check your junk folder for event info and opt-in to receiving emails from me at checkout, to make sure you receive all your event info!

Spaces are limited, booking early is essential to secure your space.
