A day of nature, community and ancient seasonal celebration in Seaham

As the wheel of the year turns toward Beltane, the land is alive with new life. Fresh green leaves unfurl in the woodland canopy, wildflowers scatter the forest floor and birdsong fills the air.

Beltane marks the ancient threshold between spring and summer – a time when the energy of the earth is vibrant, fertile and full of possibility.

This Wild Reconnection Gathering, lovingly held by Cheryl, is an invitation to slow down, breathe deeply and spend a day immersed in nature.

Surrounded by woodland, open skies and the quiet presence of the natural world, we’ll step away from the busyness of modern life and return to something simpler and deeply nourishing.

Through gentle nature practices, shared food, creativity and storytelling, we’ll spend the day reconnecting with nature, ourselves and one another.

Expect a day that feels grounding, joyful and restorative.

A guided foraging walk

We’ll begin with a slow and sensory foraging walk through woodland paths and leafy clearings.

Spring is one of the most abundant times for wild foods, with edible plants, herbs, blossoms and spring medicine emerging everywhere you look, once you know how to spot them.

As we wander together, you’ll learn how to identify seasonal wild plants, alongside their traditional uses for food, herbal medicine and folklore.

Foraging isn’t about just harvesting large quantities – it’s about learning to see the landscape differently.

Once you know what to look for, the paths you’ve walked many times before begin to reveal a hidden world of nourishment and abundance.

Forest bathing

After our walk, we’ll take time to slow down with a gentle forest bathing session.

Forest bathing (or shinrin-yoku) is the practice of immersing your senses in the natural world. Rather than walking with a destination in mind, this is about simply being present with the land.

Through simple invitations, like noticing sounds, textures, light and breath, you’ll be guided to soften your pace and allow the nervous system to settle.

Many people find this time brings a deep sense of calm, clarity and connection.

Wildflower Crown Making

Beltane has long been celebrated as a festival of flowers and life in bloom.

Using seasonal wildflowers and natural materials, you’ll be guided to create your own wildflower crown.

This creative moment invites playfulness and presence,  a chance to work with the beauty of the season and celebrate the abundance of spring.

Your crown becomes a living symbol of Beltane and a beautiful reminder of the day spent in nature.

A wild picnic

We’ll gather together for a relaxed wild picnic, sharing nourishing food in the fresh air.

There’s something special about eating outdoors after time spent exploring the land — food tastes better, conversations flow more easily and the atmosphere naturally becomes warm and relaxed.

Expect simple seasonal food that celebrates the flavours of spring, with time to rest, chat and soak in the atmosphere of the day.

This moment of shared nourishment often becomes one of the most cherished parts of the gathering.

Listening circle

Later in the day we’ll gather for a gentle listening circle.

This is a space where everyone is invited to share thoughts or reflections that want a place to land – or simply listen.

There’s no pressure to speak. Being present in the circle is enough.

Listening circles create a rare opportunity to slow down and truly hear one another. Many people find these moments surprisingly powerful and grounding.

It’s a reminder that connection isn’t only with nature, it’s with each other too.

Beltane Storytelling

As the day softens, Cheryl will share stories inspired by the ancient traditions and folklore of Beltane.

For generations, storytelling helped people understand the rhythms of the seasons and our relationship with the natural world.

These stories invite us to reconnect with that deeper sense of belonging to the land, remembering that seasonal celebrations were once woven into everyday life.

Let the stories carry you for a while, just as they once did around fires and gatherings long ago.

And maybe you’ll feel inspired to also share a story or two.

A closing sound bath

We’ll gently close the gathering with a restorative sound bath.

Lying or sitting comfortably, you’ll be bathed in soothing tones and vibrations designed to calm the mind and body.

The sounds create a deeply relaxing space where you can allow the experiences of the day to settle and integrate.

It’s a peaceful and grounding way to close our Beltane gathering together.

A Day to Remember Your Place in the Wild

This gathering is an invitation to step away from the busyness of everyday life and return, for a while, to something simpler.

A day of woodland wandering, wild plants, shared food, stories and meaningful connection.

Whether you come alone or with friends, you’ll be warmly welcomed into a supportive and relaxed space.

Leave feeling calmer, more connected and quietly nourished by the land, the season and the people around you.
